Don't stop the Hip Hop!

I am a huge hip  hop fan! I  love all kinds of music from pop to r&b, show tunes  to opera, gospel to rock, and definitely hip hop! I am not one of those people who think that the hip hop music from the 80s was better, but a lot of artists back then were original and so many set the trends for the rappers of today just as in any other music genre. You can tell which artists were influenced by which artists from the past just by their style and music. It's okay! That's how things go on, people continue to do it, just reinvent it. I think that there was maybe more variety in hip hop artists back then. Lets play hip hop back to the future...name some of your fave hip hop artists from back in the day up to now...mine are...A tribe called quest, salt & pepa, tone loc, the beastie boys, young mc, mc hammer, marky mark (that's right!) eric b & rakim, epmd, ll cool j, public enemy, run dmc, nwa(yeah I said it!), biz markie, big daddy kane, mc lyte, queen latifah, monie love, jazzy jeff & the fresh prince, slick rick & doug e. fresh, snoop dogg (then & now), tupac & biggie (of course), lil kim, foxy brown, jay z (then & now), freeway, beans, peedi, chris & neef, cassidy,  nas, outkast, ugk, missy, timbaland & magoo, bow wow, busta rhymes(then & now), dr. dre, eminem, wu tang clan, redman, puffy aka diddy(then & now), mase, naughty by nature, juevenile, lil wayne (then & now),50 cent, t.i, lil jon, wale, jeezy, plies, nelly, twista, fabolous,  trina, rick ross, meek millz,  kid cudi, wiz khalifa, kanye west, nicki minaj, drake & all my boys from the black eyed peas (my fave group!), I have so many more...... The quest for front row!

It's fun going to concerts now, but back in the day going to concerts was a different and fun experience! It is easier to get tickets now for any event right online or at various ticket locations....but one of the best parts of going to concerts back in the day was getting tickets! People would camp out for tickets for days if they had to! It was so awesome...you would meet all kinds of people from different places, but mostly everyone had one thing in common, the act you were in line to see. The absolute best concerts I've ever been to in my life were Prince (Lovesexy) and Madonna (Blonde Ambition)!!! I waited out for the Prince tickets with one of my besties, Heather aka Princess. We had to be out there for over 20 plus hours, but when u are a true fan, especially back then, none of that matters! We had our tent & our grub...so we were cool! LOL! We ended up with the greatest seats ever....I even touched his hand when he bent down to touch the fans on our side! ...and those of us who know Princess knows we were in full dress that night, clothing designed especially by her...I think we were the best dressed there! We even stayed in the same hotel he stayed at when he was here. I didn't actual get to see him, but I did get to ride the elevator with some of the band members! It was a great and awesome adventure! I stayed out for Madonna tix with one of my other bffs, Annette...we too had great seats and had an awesome time!!! It was so cold out, but we took turns going on hot chocolate runs...lol...and we made it through!!! I hope that brought back some of your coolest concert memories....tell me some of yours! I have so many more, but I'll save them for another time! Thanks for reading....until next time!!!

Lights! Camera! Action!

I thought today I would go back to my fave movies of the 80s! ...see I'm the type of person who, if I like something a lot, I'll do it or watch it or eat it or whatever...AGAIN & AGAIN!!! That goes for movies too...I'm still watching some of my favorite movies from back in the day even now. I'll have an 80s movie day, all by myself...popcorn & all!!! I would love to get together with friends and have one, but I haven't yet....I like 80s trivia too...I think I can beat pretty much anybody! LOL! I'm not stuck in the past, I have plenty of new things that I like, it's just that I think that part of what keeps me going and keeps me happy is going back to things that made me happy before, every once in a while....plus it takes you back to a time that was fun and innocent and way less stressful! You may have been younger, it probably was before the husband or wife & the kids and before jobs & bills! LOL!!! Just a maybe not a better time...just a simpler time! Here are some of the movies (there are so many more than these) that I enjoyed back in the day and that I still like to sit back and watch now (check them out & let me know some of your faves...let's compare)..."Dirty Dancing", "The Goonies", "Lady In White", "Dangerous Liaisons", 'Flashdance", "Heathers", "Mommie Dearest", "Back to the Future", "The Lost Boys", "Victor/Victoria", "Stand By Me", "The Shining", The Breakfast Club", "valley Girl", "Girls just want to have fun", "Purple Rain", "The Color Purple", and "Pretty in Pink". Talk to me people!!!

The Studio!

Every time I went into the DOA/DPUSA studio and walked onto the set it was the best feeling! I know exactly how people feel when they are lucky enough to do something that they love to everyday, as a job or whatever, and when they say that they feel so lucky or blessed. I felt the exact some way every time. The first time I went on the show I was so awestruck! When I walked into the studio the set looked huge, I was used to seeing it on tv, in person it looked so much different and better to me! When I saw my favorite regulars ( I was a huge fan of the show) it was like being in the room with Madonna and Prince to me...I know it sounds crazy but it felt that way! That day I vowed that I would dance my hardest, put my personality right out there and not be shy at all (even though I never ever really was)...I wanted to be part of everything!!! It was around April when I first went on and that June or whenever the picked the summer regulars, they picked me! My best friend at the time who was attending the shows with me did not get chosen, so she stopped coming... I kept going...& u all know the rest! LOL!!! After that, even though I was on the show for years, I still always got the best feeling going onto the set, seeing all the people who were now my friends, who I now consider family...knowing that I was going to get to something that I absolutely loved to do...Dance...and that I was going to get to meet all kinds of new people everyday that came from all over to dance on the show as guests, and that I may get to see any celebrities that may have come to perform or appear on the show that day! AWESOME!!! The day the show went off the air was really hard for me because I wasn't really ready to give all of that up, especially seeing all my peeps everyday!!!

Still Dancin!

I am so happy and I feel so blessed to still be able to "kick it"! I laugh at myself so hard sometimes and it still amazes me when I drop it low and still come back up with no problem! Not trying to jinx myself but I just felt like sharing because it inspires me so much to see so many of my tv peeps still doin their "thang" lol! I am thrilled to now have yet another chance and another platform to express myself through dancing and whatever else! I don't know about the rest of you but I'm looking to get together with some of my fellow alumni and do something big...maybe a new reality show, maybe a variety show or even a tour....who knows...just putting it out there....and hoping!!!! I know that aging isn't what it used to  be and that people continue to look good, feel good and do the things they love way longer than they used to but I still can't help feeling that we need to do something soon because I just may wake up one day and not be able to do my "Deyonce" dances anymore...LOL! That's why I pray and keep dancing as much as I can!!! I did slack off for a while and put on some pounds, but I'm back in the saddle now! I used to like to get me a few coronas (I like them ice cold) and rock out and dance in my room and block anyone who can't relate right out....I mean I'm blasting David Bowie, Prince, Madonna, Paula Abdul, Aerosmith and whoever else and really dancin' ....full out! LOL! ...but now I have to do it minus the coronas for a while! ...but as soon as I get this ole body back in shape ...we'll get back together (...talkin to the coronas...lol!) I just want us to get back out there and do some things because we were before our time...we were some of the first reality stars...and our 15minutes isn't over yet....not if I can help it...LOL!!!!

Celebrities on the set!

We were so lucky to have had so many performers on our set! I was lucky enough to get to dance with some, talk to some and even interview many! It was also really cool to see so many that were just starting out at the time get to be really huge stars! It was also awesome to see the ones that were already huge at the time! Some of my faves were Paula Abdul, her performance of "knocked out" was so great, I became a huge fan that day, and am so glad to see her having so much success today...I love the whole thing between she & Simon....they are so funny together... another person was MC Hammer...soooooooo awesome...they came and definitely rocked our set and he even told some of us that we were great dancers...it was so cool seeing his whole crew perform, especially the dancing, up close & personal....I always had fun when New Kids on the Block were there also, although HUGE at that time they had a cool relationship with the show and made lots of appearances...I was lucky enough to get to interview them! We even got to do a video shoot with them on a boat for their bodyguard Biscuit's song.....It was always so cool when they were there!!! There were sooooooo many more, they were just some of my faves.......
